Separate account fit from timing
Account fit asks whether a company could reasonably benefit from your product. Timing asks whether something has changed that makes a conversation useful now. Keep both decisions visible. A strong signal at a company outside your market is still a poor lead.
Define the roles you sell to, the problems you solve and the exclusions before choosing alerts. For example, exclude competitors, unsuitable company types and accounts your team should not contact. Check that those exclusions still apply when an automated workflow finds a new signal.
What makes a signal usable?
Avoid turning an observation into an invented motive. A company hiring engineers has published a hiring need. It has not necessarily decided to buy your software. Your outreach should reflect the observation you can support.
- A source you can open and inspect.
- A date that shows whether the event is still relevant.
- A clear connection between the event and the problem your product solves.
- An appropriate buyer role at an account that fits.
- A record of why the account passed qualification and what remains uncertain.
An illustrative signal review
Suppose you sell onboarding software and an account announces an expansion into a new region. That event could increase onboarding work, but it is only a hypothesis. Check that the company has the relevant team and that your product supports the region and workflow.
Accept the account only if it meets your qualification rules. Keep the expansion source attached to the record and write a message that asks about the resulting work. Do not claim the company has onboarding problems unless the evidence says so. This example illustrates a process; it is not a customer result.
Which outbound platforms use buying signals?
Nouvel describes custom signals and account qualification as part of its outbound operation. Amplemarket's Duo Copilot also uses buying signals and research to prepare outreach. Gojiberry describes ICP filters and signals as the targeting foundation for its agents. These are overlapping capabilities, so compare the evidence and controls in practice.
Ask each provider to process the same small account sample. Review rejected accounts as well as accepted ones. Test an old event, an excluded company and an ambiguous buyer role. This shows more than a demonstration containing only ideal prospects.

Keep sending and replies under control
A relevant account can still receive poor outreach. Agree on campaign approval, sending limits, opt out handling and who can pause a campaign. Review delivery problems and negative responses before increasing volume. No platform can guarantee inbox placement or a buyer response.
Nouvel's public product description includes dedicated sending infrastructure, delivery monitoring and replies with account context. Ask for a demonstration of those controls and confirm the exact responsibilities in your agreement. Do not assume every product question or commercial exception can be handled without your team.
Keep the original account evidence and campaign history with the reply. A salesperson should be able to see why the account was contacted and what was said before taking over the conversation.
Measure the quality of the selection
Track why accounts pass or fail review, which signals lead to useful conversations and where buyer feedback contradicts your assumptions. Review each signal type separately; a combined reply rate can hide a weak source.
Expand a signal only after the underlying accounts and responses support doing so. The goal is a relevant conversation with a suitable buyer, rather than a feed of alerts that keeps the system busy.
See how qualification carries into outreach
Nouvel connects product fit, buyer roles and exclusions to account context before outreach. Inspect how the qualification decision changes the actual message, rather than judging a signal in isolation.
